Dr Jitendra Singh Assumes the Charge of S&T Ministry
Dr Jitendra Singh on 8 July 2021 assumed the charge as the new Union S&T Minister and was allocated with two portfolios, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Earth Sciences with independent charge.
Dr Singh said that under the leadership of the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Government has taken several noteworthy initiatives in the field of Science and Technology. The Minister further added that he will strive hard to achieve the targets set by the Prime Minister so that the benefits of the science and technology sector reach the common man and contribute effectively towards ease of living.
The Minister underscored the crucial importance of the Ministry of Earth Sciences in informing the masses on different aspects especially weather forecasts. He said that the Ministry of Earth Sciences is extending crucial assistance to farmers across the country through scientific analysis of data and forecasts. He pointed out that the unique weather forecast technology developed and being used by India at present is appreciated the world over and replicated by many countries.
Dr Singh also interacted with the senior officials of the Ministry and encouraged them to give further fillip to scientific activities that hugely advantage the common people particularly farmers.
